An Indianapolis Small Business Website Checklist

Hardly any of this is about looks. It is whether a stranger can tell that you stop at whether you go outside 465, when a person answers, and what it runs.

Say which side of 465 you work

Serving Indianapolis tells nobody anything. Marion County is most of the way to four hundred square miles, and somebody in Franklin Township has no idea whether a crew photographed on Mass Ave will drive out.

Write the line the way you dispatch it. Inside 465 daily. Donut counties on scheduled days. Anything past that by quote. It reads as refusing work and mostly it removes calls you would have declined.

Talk about basements, because everyone has one

The ground here is flat and the water table comes up every spring, which means a functioning sump pump is not optional and everybody finds that out the hard way once.

If you do pumps, backups, or drainage, explain the difference between a pump problem, a grading problem, and a real waterproofing job. Homeowners who have been given three prices will book the one who explained it.

Say what happens in an ice storm

Ice here takes limbs down across power lines and driveways, and it does it to whole neighborhoods at once.

State the response plainly. Same-day clearance for access. Tree work inside forty-eight hours. Vagueness in that window loses the job to whoever was specific.

Say what you do in race week

One weekend in May reorganises the west side of the county and fills every hotel for fifty miles. Some customers cannot get to you and others suddenly need things fixed before guests arrive.

Put your hours and access notes up in April. It is genuinely useful, and it signals local in a way nothing else does.

Say which languages you actually work in

This city has one of the larger Burmese and Chin communities in the country, alongside a substantial Spanish-speaking population.

An automatic overlay does not count. Written, indexed pages in the languages somebody at the sump pump and drainage crew genuinely speaks.

Put the licence number in the footer

Trades here are licensed at the county level and customers do check, particularly on anything that involves opening a floor.

Footer of every page rather than an about page nobody opens. It is the cheapest way to separate a real sump pump and drainage crew from the outfit that only takes new construction.

Photograph houses that look like theirs

A stock kitchen says nothing. A pump and discharge line replacement in an Irvington bungalow basement, with the same block wall in shot, tells a homeowner you have done their exact job.

Phone photographs are fine. Work around a spring water table sitting high rather than against it, and keep the frames that show sump pumps finished rather than halfway apart.

Put a figure next to each service

Leaving the price off reads as expensive. A floor, a range, what sump pump usually runs, or a flat inspection fee gives somebody enough to act on.

Publish a band and the phone rings less and converts more, because whoever calls about a sump pump has already accepted roughly what it costs.

Keep the listing and the site telling one story

Hours, coverage, categories, and phone number have to agree between the map listing and the site. Where they conflict, somebody in Irvington believes the listing.

Check it during race week and after ice storms, when your hours are nothing like the printed ones.
